President Donald J. Trump has amassed quite a sum for his White House “modernization project,” a term coined by the Trump administration for the Ballroom, Lafayette Square, helipad construction, a new visitor screening center, and other reported White House upgrades. All with a total cost of $927 million, as reported by The Washington Post. You may be wondering where the money is coming from. Who’s authorized all these changes? Well, taxpayers are covering a portion of these costs, of course, along with private donors and an undisclosed $70 million. Additionally, money was pulled from other federal agencies.  As for the authorization part, President Trump and his administration completely removed Congress from the equation. This resulted in a Federal Appeals Court ruling that Congress must authorize the 90,000-square-foot ballroom, a project that has reportedly been underway since last year.
