Broken (Manhattan Ruthless)

Broken (Manhattan Ruthless)

by Sadie Kincaid
4/5
Sadie Kincaid's "Broken" was an enjoyable story. Although this isn't my first time reading from Ms. Kincaid, more like my third, this was my first monogamous read from her. Usually, I only follow her polyamorous storylines, but I wasn’t disappointed. Nathan, the emotionally distant billionaire, was daring, possessive, and demanding without being cringeworthy. His big dick energy was ever-present and incredibly sexy. Melanie Edison was quirky, sweet, and feisty—except when she was around her big brother. I really liked her character, and I was glad the underdog got a moment to shine. Around 70% through, I could predict the plot and felt the urge to skip to the ending. I’ve noticed many authors do this: they often promise a HEA (Happily Ever After), which isn't a bad thing, but sometimes I wish for more variation. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the story and the ongoing sex scenes between Mel and Nate. The sex was tantalizing yet mild—a definite turn-on. Though I’ll admit, I’m in Year 4 of a dry spell, so that might color my perspective. Either way, “Broken” deserves the 4.3 stars from me. I really enjoyed the read.
